At the end of the day, I got what I was looking for.a clean, affordable place to lay my head. ![]() This was one was the cheapest hotel with decent ratings. The price was a bit steep for a budget hotel, but for some reason, ALL the Chicago hotel rates were outrageous, thus my willingness to end my 20 yr long Motel 6 boycott. Also, I've never had to have both me AND my guest show ID to check in, even though the reservation was in my name only, but whatever. No free breakfast, not even continental (again, par for the course). Cons: You'll definitely want to bring a well-stocked toiletry bag, because the only complimentary toiletry provided was a cheap bar of soap (par for the course for budget hotels). Since we got in late and only stayed one night, I didn't engage much with the staff, but the young man at the front desk was very professional and efficient, considering how busy they were. The beds were comfortable, and it was surprisingly quiet for a family hotel near full capacity. The wi-fi was adequate for streaming (took a minute to get going, but no buffering). The wood laminate floors were far less intimidating than normal budget hotel carpeting where you have to guess whether it's safe to take your shoes off. First of all, despite the name, this one is actually a hotel, not a motel.no going outside to get to your room. This was a colossal step up from my last Motel 6 experience where the door knob fell off and trapped us inside (different city, different owner). Bus drivers are very friendly and helpful too :) Sure beats $50-$60 cab fare!… ![]() Higgins (the stop is on the far side of the road and the intersection) and catch the 223 Pace Bus which costs only $2.25! But I had to go and knock on their door twice in the night to remind them I could hear everything. The walls were useless - I could hear everything going on in the room next to me (thank goodness they didn't get up to any hanky-panky!) and the fact that the floors were linoleum and there were no soft furnishings made it even louder. I was a late check-in and an early check-out, meaning I needed to be able to hear the alarm, which meant I couldn't sleep with earplugs. Great location, clean and neat, but appallingly thin walls.
